GGD #79 User Experience in AR by Viki Johnson – sponsored by Cookpad

We’d like to thank the fantastic Viki Johnson for stepping in to do the talk at this months Dinner.

About Viki Johnson
I currently work as an AR and VR developer in Bristol based Zubr VR, where I make interactive exhibits for heritage projects and marketing. Before that I studied fine art and graphic design, completed a degree in games design and worked briefly as a game artist before learning programming and falling into XR. I still enjoy game design, and take part in as many game jams as I can.

User Experience in VR
AR is becoming more and more popular, with more smart phones becoming AR compatible there are more and more AR apps out there. But not all of them have the best experience for the end users. They don’t consider how information is placed on the screen, or how it’s generated in the world. They don’t think about how users physically interactive with AR apps, or how important diverse user testing is in the creation of AR.

In my talk, I will talk about the ways to ensure your audience have the best experience and enjoy your app to the fullest. Drawing from established UX conventions in mobile app and game design, I will discuss how to apply these specifically to AR experiences.
