Passend zur Next09-Konferenz nutzen wir die Gelegenheit, daß viele interessante Leute zu Besuch in Hamburg sind. Und auch wenn ich die Aufschreie schon höre werden wir nordisch passend im Hofbräuhaus feiern, die dankenswerterweise uns Räume ohne Gebühr zur Verfügung gestellt haben.

Wie jedes Mal ist das “Dinner” kein formales Essen, sondern schlicht und einfach ein Treffen in gemütlicher Runde, ohne Eintritt.

GGD News März

Dank der MFG bald auch ein GGD in Stuttgart

Die MFG und hier vor allem die Leiterin Projektteam Digital Media Vivien Dollinger unterstützen die Girl Geek Dinner Deutschland Reihe mit Reisekosten, so daß in diesem Jahr voraussichtlich einmal im Quartal ein GGD stattfinden kann.

Ihr möchtet das GGD auch in Eurer Stadt? Am besten helft Ihr mir lokale Sponsoren wie die MFG zu finden.

Nächstes GGD Berlin zur Republica

Ich warte noch auf die Bestätigung von coffee karma, aber voraussichtlich am 2ten April wird das nächste GGD in Berlin stattfinden. Ja, das ist mitten während der Republica aber die anderen vorher und nachher Termine gingen leider nicht.

Rückblick: 3GT auf der Cebit

Auf der diesjährigen Cebit haben Gesche Roy und  Nicole Y. Männl  das "3GT – Girl Geek Get Together" veranstaltet, am besten beschrieben durch die Tweets unter dem Tag 3GT.

Rückblick GGD München

Die Location für München war wunderbar geeignet für ein GGD weil wir einfach den ganzen Laden übernehmen konnten. Sprecher Simone mußte zwar vor die Wellnessoasentür, meisterte das aber mit Bravour. Netter neuer Touch: Der zweite anwesende Italiener bedankte sich bei der einladenden Signorina mit einem Buchgeschenk.

Frauenbarcamp München

Das Foto oben ist eines von vieren von Mirjam Mieschendahl, die letztes Jahr das Frauenbarcamp veranstaltet hat, nächstes Mal aber nur Mitorganisatorin sein kann / möchte:

von 101 Frauen in der Gruppe haben 95% dafür gestimmt, dass dieses Jahr wieder ein Barcamp für Frauen stattfinden sollte.
Bei mir hat sich aber in den letzten Wochen so viel beruflich verändert, dass ich dieses Jahr nur mitorganisieren kann.
Aber es wäre ja zu schade, wenn sich das jetzt einfach im Sande verläuft. Wenn eine unter Euch ist, die Interesse daran hat, federführend die Organisation für eine diesjährige Veranstaltung zu übernehmen, dann bitte melden.

Vorwarnung: Facebook-Gruppe und Newsletter

Zur besseren Handhabung und ob der einfacheren Möglichkeiten werde ich im April die GGD-Facebook-Gruppe umstellen auf eine Fan-Page. Diese bietet mehr Möglichkeiten, dabei werden jedoch alle Mitglieder automatisch zu Fans gewandelt – hier werde ich rechtzeitig vorher noch eine Gruppenmail versenden so daß wer nicht möchte auch kein "Zwangsfan" wird. Ähnliches wird mit dem Newsletter passieren, dieser wird auch ‘umziehen’ von der momentanen händischen Lösung auf ein Newslettersystem.

Passend zum DLD findet wieder ein Girl Geek Dinner statt, dieses Mal in der Kostbar. What is the GGD about?
For those of you who do not know the Girl Geek Dinner, the quick rundown:

• It is not just for geeks: Attendees of a Girl Geek Dinner is someone who has an interest in technology and new media. Not necessarily technically minded.
• It is not just for woman: it is part of the GGD to be for guys too – they just need to be invited by a women. Usually there is a 50/50 mix, which brings new perspectives for both genders.
• It is not a dinner but a social get together of like minded people (as in: don’t come hungy )
• It if free to attend, but you do pay for your own drinks.

Same procedure as every year …
GGD is in the middle of this crazy week full of events end of October; for the same reason it was last year: because it is a great chance to get together an international crowd of people. And we are sure that at least half of the attendees will be twittering this year. What is that week we are talking about? Simple.

(plus many more spontanous partys and meetups.)

Kicking of with the international Barcamp Berlin 3, going over a Facebook Developper Garage via the Web 2.0 Expo and ending with the after party of the Techcrunch UK / Expo called Latecrunch, a lot of visitors will be in town to meet, ready to meet and party eh network.

Btw: if you are living outside of Germany, there are still a few spaces left on the guest list of the Barcamp and also the FB Dev Garage has some seats left. (If you would like to attend the expo, you can use the code webeu08gr26 for a 35% discount on any of the packages.)

Don’t know anybody?
Like last year, we do expect there to be quite a lot of guys not knowing anybody local to ask to accompany them. It would be great if some of the females who do not yet have a guest could offer their help. There is nothing involved in being the inviting person other than that you cannot have another guest – you do not even need to talk to that person. If you are a guy without an inviting women yet, please leave a comment here, so a women can *cough* pick you up.

Frankfurt Girl Geek Dinner on October 2nd

Always wanted a Girl Geek Dinner in Frankfurt? Well, now you can have it! I am extremly happy to introduce Carmen Villadar to you (@digitalfemme on Twitter) who will start of the Frankfurt Girl Geek Dinners on October 2nd. It is hosted together with Claudia Rauch.

October is the month for our 1st Frankfurt Girl Geek Dinner. We’re excited and looking forward to this event and we hope you are too.

Our 1st Frankfurt Girl Geek Dinner will take place on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the Brotfabrik. An old bread factory in the Frankfurt neighbourhood of Hausen.

It will actually be in the very comfortable kp-21 Café. You’ll be able to find drinks and a wide variety of delicious treats to enjoy while the evening rolls out. We’ll be expecting you at 6:30pm for the “mixer & elixir” part. This is where you don name tags, settle in, grab a drink (elixir) and mingle with others (mixer).

We should all be seated around 7:15pm just in time for the usual Welcome & Introductions. Feel free to enjoy your meal while the talks get underway. We’ll start the presentations when everyone appears finished with their meal.

There will be a program and it will involve your participation ).

We’ve set an initial seating limit to 20 people. If you plan on attending please let us know ASAP by registering via email at contact@frankfurtgirlgeekdinners.com. Deadline for registration will be Wednesday, October 1 at 12 noon. If we receive a registration of more than 20 attendees we’ll still be able to accommodate everyone as long as we receive your email by the deadline stated.

Guys can definitely attend but you need to bring a female guest. If you plan on coming with a female guest please include your name and her name in the email.

We’ll be posting a list of names of people (and their guests) that have registered via email on the *official* site as we get them.

GGD Berlin during Web 2.0 Expo – the question is when?

Update: We have now decided that Monday the 20th is the best day to host the GGD – List for invitation will come soon.

As the Web 2.0 Expo Europe is coming Berlin again from Oct 21-23rd, we are also going to have a Girl Geek Dinner.

The part about which I am currently undecided is just when to have it. I will be in town for the international Barcamp Berlin 3 as well as the Expo and the Facebook Dev Garage, but depending on other party schedules and such I am torn when to have it. If you would like to see all events happening: Berlin Web Week has all the details!

Current favourite of mine: Around lunch time at the 21st or 22nd evening before the official Party with Berlin Partner.

Nachlese GGD Hamburg und München
