BGGD #13 What’s in the goodie bag 4/5 Goedele magazine

Goedele Magazine coverOne of the other items in the Brussels Girl Geek Dinner #13 was the 9th edition of monthly Belgian (Dutch spoken) magazine Goedele. In stores today, and already in the middle of a controversy. Major daily newspaper De Standaard doubts whether the cover, featuring Goedele Liekens herself in a combinaton of black lace and a nun’s habit, is either a marketing ploy or simply tasteless.

BGGD #13 What’s in the goodie bag 2/5 Liefmans Belgian fruit beer

News Comments Off

Two of the items in the goodie bag went “tick, tick” every time you moved it. They were… 1 bottle of Liefmans and the pretty glass that goes with it. How did you like the taste?

Liefmans

In addition to rehabilitating Liefmans’s existing premier beers to full honours, the brewery is also investing in the future. The range is being expanded to include a new fresh fruit beer, simply dubbed ‘Liefmans’. Its base is identical to that of the Liefmans Cuvée-Brut: beer that was left to mature for 18 months on fresh cherries. In line with the Liefmans expertise, this beer is then blended with fresh, natural fruit juices of strawberry, raspberry, cherry, elderberry and bilberry. The result is a summery, refreshing fruit beer that is delightfully sweet, with the sparkle of champagne and the freshness of a nicely chilled glass of white wine.

Elegant and fresh, the packaging and the bottle look a treat. A stylish matching tall stem glass completes the picture.

BGGD #13 speaker Muriel Scherre: To be honest: I am just interested. Period.

Muriel Scherre - Hard to HeartLa Fille d’O is not a lingerie brand and Murielle Scherre is not a fashion designer. La Fille d’O is more of a state of mind. And a joke, that started 6 years ago on April Fool’s Day.

A lot has happened since then. There were sensational shows, unforgettable parties, video clips and all sorts of projects. Think Fifty Foot Combo. Oh, and books, tv appearances, and magazine interviews. And of course: the collections.  Cake, Cats and Curiosity. Pumpkin. DryClean. ‘O Grrrls Going South. La Toile Vierge. Iscream. Razorblades and Lollipops. Her first shoe collection. And recently: Hard to Heart, a lingerie collection that urges you to follow your heart.

In the meanwhile Belgium’s favourite bad girl doubles as a deejay in all kinds of clubs – anything between Culture Club of Make Up CLub and the fair in your local village. This new dj project is called DeVilles Amateur Dollhouse.

So it’s safe to say La Fille d’O is definitely not a lingerie brand. It’s a state of mind. An excuse to think out of the box and to live life with all your senses.
Or, to quote Murielle: “To be honest: I am just interested. Period.”
