Girl Geek Dinners is starting the process of setting up a charity within the UK that covers all UK based Girl Geek Dinner groups and this is no doubt just the start for this process. We are currently looking for people with experience in this area and legal & accounting bods to help out and provide us with the support and guidance required to make this happen. Yesterday (4th August) at the London Girl Geek Dinner 5 Year Anniversary event we raised £404 to go towards that status and we will continue with this effort to cover the cost of application, legal and so on. We are looking to keep that to a minimum so that as much as possible goes towards the actual charitable causes. The official bank account is being set up for this this weekend and we’ll add a donate button to this page as soon as that’s done so that you can start donating to the cause straight away.
Our focus area will be Education – providing technology advice to students & teachers as well as parents and anyone who wouldn’t normally get the opportunity to access technology. We want to break down barriers and make technology accessible to all and inspire people into science, engineering and technology! Provide role models, mentoring and loads more!
